I have started paying cash for all my grocery shopping. It is an eye opener to what I am really spending on food and household items. I found this post from Money Saving Mom about the envelope system. You have your grocery budget money, in cash, in an evelope and that is all you use for that week of shopping. I think that it is a great way to cut down on all the extra stuff that I buy and as the article says all the mental math it takes to keep track of the budget is gone.
